Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
